Preacher boy in the opening sequence

This may be a foolish question but I still feel compelled to ask if anyone has any theories on him. The opening sequence set him up in such a prominent way that the audience is led to believe he will be the leader of the cult throughout the whole movie. However when the scene finishes and it cuts 12 years into the future he is neither seen or mentioned again. Does this mean we're supposed to assume in that twelve years he matured past the age of 18 and was sacrificed to the corn off camera to be replaced by another leader? I was itching with curiosity regarding the circumstances surrounding the original leader.

Going by the original story this would have been David at the beginning. Isaac took Davids place as the Seer of HWWBTR when David reached the Age of Favor and was sacrificed.

Thanks for that. Does this happen in Stephen King's short story?

yes, only in the movie version of 1984 Issac is the original leader, in the short story and this new version (more like the story) Issac
represents a second generation, in the original movie the murders of the adults are nearer then the people praying in the radio are not them coz they didn't have time to put a radio.
