The original is better

In the 1984 original there was good chemistry between Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton. In this crappy remake there is NO chemistry between the two leads. Thats one thing that makes the original superior. Another is Isaac and Malachi were much scarier in the original. The kid who plays Isaac in this remake sounds like hes just reading his lines out loud and lacks the creepy voice of the original Isaac. Malachi was much meaner and psychotic in the original. To me this remake pales compared to the original.

No, it is not quite as good as the original, but you must admit, it is much better than most of the sequels. I thought it was a very good, well made, entertaining film (especially with it being a made for TV remake). I really liked Kandyse McClure especially and felt she gave the best performance of the movie. I didn't mind Preston Bailey as Isaac either; in fact, I was shocked to see all the negativity in regards to his performance. Of course he's not going to be as good as John Franklin because John's performance in the original is iconic and there is no actor who could do any better, but I don't think Preston's performance was bad at all. I was very satisfied with his performance. I think if people don't compare this film to the original the entire time they watch it, they will find it's a very enjoyable movie. I loved watching it and would gladly watch it again.
