Just wondering if anyone knows why the clothes in the suitcase of the kid that Burt and Vicky hit were the clothes of the boy preacher in the opening of the movie? Maybe they were the closest thing to what he thought a kid in the outside world would wear?

I just watched this for the first time and I thought for sure they'd explain why the clothes. Was the kid trying to run away from the cult and he got slit in the throat by the others for trying to leave?

I don't think so, coppa, cause this kid was really young and sort of red-haired and the original child was very, very dark haired. Also, I believe they said he was the Joseph whom they renamed Auhaus or something like that, and sacrificed him for some reason I didn't catch. I'm really not sure what the suitcase was for...
shareThey killed him because he was trying to run away, desert them and they couldn't let him go and possibly spread the news about what the children had done and risk bringing people into town. He was not the first prophet child shown, he was too young.
