If God or a god told you to do something and based your survival on the completion of the task...you'd either do it or die and you'd make sure that everyone around you did the same.

No. I do not mean this in a bad way because I am a fan, but not many of Stephen King's works do. They are designed to frighten, not teach. And they do that very well. I believe the main things intended for us to get out of them are chills and nightmares.
