Isaac...

...absolutely terrible.

This boy sounded like he was reading the entire time...and not reading well.

The fact that he was a cute kid overshadowed the whole "scary" factor of this movie.

reply

The fact that his lines all lacked any feeling, life, or "BELIEVABILITY", made the movie a joke.

I watch Dexter. This little boy plays Cody. He is really great on that show. I think if the director wanted him to be more angry or menacing he could have easily done that. Blame it on the directing and casting, not the little boy.

Ya I def didn't like the boy that played Isaac. He was too angelic!

reply

I agree that the boy in the opening scene would have been better. At least he tried to put some emotion into what he was saying.

You must have never read the book

He was only 7 or 8 when they cast him. They usually hire OLDER people who look younger for the roles for this reason. The other Isaac was a 25 year old man who was a midget playing a kid who had extensive theater at a University. BIG difference. Plus this was a very hard role, the dialogue and all for a young child and yes he was too angelic looking for this role. The midget grown man look was perfect as Issac in the original. Very odd and creepy and menacing.

I have complaints about the two who played Vicki and Burton. Now thats HORRIBLE and you can easily see how horrid they are compared to the two who played the roles in the 1984 version.

Were we watching the same performance? I thought his performance was very good in this movie and did not sound like he was reading. I honestly think people were expecting him to be exactly like John Franklin so that's why they didn't like him. They could not keep John Franklin's original performance out of their mind while watching this movie which is understandable because his performance was one of the greatest of all time in a horror film, but the new Isaac isn't John Franklin so I find it unfair to compare him to him.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.

Isaac was 9 at the time of the filming. He and I were pretty close buds but this was not near his finest work!

As I am watching the movie two things strike me about Isaac. First, he was supposed to look angelic since that was the opposite of what he was. Second, I think his speaking was supposed to be robotic/monotone to add to his creepiness.

reply

I agree OP. sounded stagy and like he was reading the entire time
