DAMN STRAIGHT!

Nice review and best of all it sounds so compellingly genuine and authentic.....

Probably.

On a related note why are the vast majority of faux fans - who've suddenly/noticeably descended upon this board in the last 3/4 days with the presumed intent to promote this sh^tty film's impending DVD/Blu-Ray release, so coy about their motivation for creating silly threads like these?

Stop pussy footing around and just post a hyperlink to it via Amazon ffs! Come on you know you want to. It saves pretending to like this film and/or trying to scrape together reasons to justify what is ultimately just an ideologically-charged 'plug' doesn't it?!

reply

You're right, nobody could possibly legitimately like this movie. That would be impossible, despite the fact that all the ratings show that most people liked it.

Well, nobody with a modicum of taste at least. 

That would be impossible, despite the fact that all the ratings show that most people liked it.

"all the ratings"

Hmm, one has to wonder why all this abundantly glowing praise didn't equate to financial success really....

You're also presumably discounting the fact that a substantial number of those speciously positive reviews were demonstrably motivated far more by ideological/political considerations than the purported merits of the film itself?

P.S. The Guardian's stellar (and comically unconvincing) initial 4/5 review is still by far my personal favourite of the 'righteous reviews' btw!

reply

Yes, all the ratings with adequate sample size. At IMDB most liked it. At Rotten Tomatoes most liked it. At Amazon most liked it.

This is also in spite of the fact that right after the IMDB ratings opened up, which was after the UK only release, 60% of the IMDB votes were 1. 60%.

There were tens of thousands of IMDB votes before it even opened up in the rest of the world, most of them extremely low. Something similar happened at RT.

This was also accompanied by dozens of threads on this forum notifying people they now had the opportunity to rate the film a 1. The IMDB rating therefore started extremely low at 3. Then as the film opened up in the rest of the world and people actually got the chance to see it, the rating skyrocketed past 5.

Here we have a movie with the most downvoted trailer in history, which also fell victim to sexism, prejudice, and political hate all rolled into one.

Yet even with all the fake downvotes, sexism, prejudice, and political hate, we still find that most people enjoyed the film.

Sharknado has 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Wow, I sure am convinced!

reply

No, only 33% at RT liked that movie. Most people however, including critics, liked Ghostbusters.

reply

Of PEOPLE, yes. Us dumb ignorant racist misogynist sexist people. But the 82% is from PROFESSIONAL movie critics 

reply

That's 17 ratings. 17. Hardly an adequate sample size, which is the topic at hand. Now isn't it.

.....oh so you are essentially discounting the dubious, blatantly ideologically-charged motivations behind a significant potion of these speculatively favourable reviews then?

I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. 

Still, if such delusions maintain the reality-estranged pretence/narrative you want then each to their own I guess!

Yet even with all the fake downvotes, sexism, prejudice, and political hate, we still find that most people enjoyed the film.

^Now that I (begrudgingly) will concede. However I also - as implied above, don't deny that many 'positive' reviews/up votes were also clearly fake/politically-motivated either....

You apparently do though.

Bless.

No. The media is completely biased. You'll find me pointing this out constantly on the politics board. What I'm talking about are the ratings with adequate sample size. The IMDB ratings RT ratings, etc. From this, despite all the fake, documented downvotes, we can see most people still liked it.

After 60% instantly rated this movie a 1, there had to be people who rated it a 10 in response without seeing it too. Yet that number still hasn't matched the 1 votes. Nor were there dozens of threads pleading with people to rate it a 10. Nearly all the available evidence shows there were more fake downvotes than upvotes.
