Why not cast Tony Jaa...?

I mean they are filming in Thailand , right!?! So why not get Tony Jaa. For Tony Jaa would it be great to be in an American Movie and JCVD would have at least an strong Castmember. Of course i wish they would fight against each other but i guess Tony Jaa would beat JCVD, sorry. I am a big Fan of JCVD but Tony Jaa is in his prime now. It would be cool thou.

JCVD VS TONY JAA, jeeeezzz what a headline!!! To bad it wont happend.

my god, how many childrens are on this boards? requesting tony jaa for a van damme starring movie in 2008 is just a naive thought. i am too tired too explain why. someone with a logical mind know why this didn´t happen and won´t happen.

reply

Well thank god not everyone is logical on this world. It was just a thought. Jeeezzzz everytime u post something, someone has to bashing u down. Typical IMDB.
I already wrote that it wont happen, so calm down. Everyone of us has ideas for movies (Stallone together with Arnold or Seagal VS Van Damme, CHAN VS LI, well what actually happend). So why not play with it? Its called fantasy, but for u my logical friend it must be a weird thing to do.

Sorry that i even started this topic. it wont happen again.

AMEN

sure its van damms movie but by suggesting Tony Jaa to appear in it doesnt mean its trying to take away van dams thunder!

I mean many great actors team up for movies.. actually financially might have a better success with Tony Jaa attached to the movie...

I always wanted to see Seigal and van dam team up in the early 90's never happened, people wanted deniro and pacino to team up, they did TWICE.
jackie chan and jet lee finally teamed up..

Actually I always thought Van Dam was going to take Tony Jaa and put him in a movie...

"Tony Jaa would steal Van Damme the show very easy" you say?

No way! I've seen Tony Jaa in The protector, his martial arts looks good jumping around everywhere looking like he weighs 40kg, but put his fighting skills into real life prospective, no one fights like that and Van Damme would break his skinny little arms. I'm tired of watching his *beep* tripezic martial arts. When JCVD was in his prime Jaa would have no chance.

JC is stronger but tony jaa is so much faster and that is why he would win against him very easily because fighting is about speed, then comes power. power is not useful when someone can hit you faster more times.

what other said who wants to please him because JC gave olivier bisback work (money) doesn´t matter. i am watching JC´s recent movie THE SHEPHERD and there i see that JC is slower than scott adkins and slower than the prison stunt fighter. JC was never fast and now he became slower because of his age and less motivation regarding MA in his movies. that is why i don´t understand why JC puts in so much slow motion effects in his fight scenes. he shouldn´t make it that he feels faster on the screen.

What are you talking about JC is not fast? That is his style in action movies. He can be faster than anyone he wants to be. But that is his style of martial arts movies. His style always comes in 3. You show the muscle, the move and looks, where as other actors have their own strategies. This has always been Van Dammes style and he’s going to stick with it till the end. If you are preparing to watch a Van Damme film that is the process it will involve that is his style. I know everyone wants him to do something else and advance but that is what has worked for him for a long time and he’s sticking with it. So don’t compare him to other martial artists like Tony Jaa and Steven Segal because they have their own style and people that want to see them type of moves should just go and watch those type of movies. Van Damme will try and surprise his Fans and hopefully those fans will pass on the word. I know I will.

He can be faster than anyone he wants to be?

as much as i am a fan of him but that is simply not true. JC is known that he is not really fast compared to other MA. i mean scott adkins, donnie yen and jet li are a lot faster than him. just watch lionheart where almost every move looked like done in slow motion. anyway, i like the movie a lot but that is a fact. JC has his own style but he was never fast compared to other MA actors.

You all realise that choreographed stunts/fight scenes are designed to look cool and nothing more. For instance you dont just stand there and let someone jump 10 feet off an elephants back and let them elbow you in the nuts.

Dont confuse action heroes with real fighting. Your bickering is futile.

In a film, anyone can beat anyone. Its not real.

reply

calm down buddy..

thats like Saying Bruce lee, jackie chan and jet lee are all fragile and would have their legs and arms broken by JCVD..

this is not the case at all.. Tony jaa HITS hard for his weight! if he lands an elbow on your head you will be knocked out!
if he lands a kicked to your head its good night!
sure in the movies its following that chinese slap stick style were the person who has been hit wobbles and flies off a stair case.. but in real life if Tony got a hold of you, he would knock you out!

now VAN DAM in his prime, blood sport, kickboxer etc.. if he fought tony jaa today, when you have to skilled and talented fighters like that, its all a matter of who can connect first to land the fatal blow..

those two fighters on screen would be Awesome...
maybe in the future we might see JCVD play a manager roll, or something like roger moore from The quest or clint eastwood million dollar baby.
and JCVD takes tony jaa under his wing and takes him to the top..
that would be awesome...
or.. another senario.. two cops, one bad guy one good guy.. two bad guys etc..

Someone already made a good point that people are for some reason missing, there is a difference between fighting in real life and choreographed fights in movies. These fight scenes in movies are choreographed, altered, and rehearsed. The fact that people are comparing people in fights based off of movies is absolutely ridiculous and silly. Not to mention they are each trained in different forms of martial arts.

Didn't Tony Jaa went completely lunatic during production of Ong Bak 2 and disappeared from the face of the earth for sometime? Did he come back yet?
