It's true Jane's true love wasn't Owen but he was still very much a love interest to Jane. So although they had broken up, Jane was still hoping they'd be together. The wound was so fresh when Stacy decided she wanted his baby! Then Jane accepts it because she wants to be a good friend. I didn't like this story line and to make matters worst, Stacy and Owen had no chemistry. I don't understand why they had to take it there. Stacy was young, rich and attractive, they could've given her anybody. I felt in the end she abused the friendship for asking so much of Jane.

it is like the writers just ran out of ideas
I never liked the Owen character

Sorry to respond so late to this but I just finished rewatching the series and I agree with you so much. I cringed whenever Stacey and Owen had a kissing scene. I also cringed when Stacey and Fred had kissing scenes, so I think it's just the actress, but still. I would have really liked it if Jane had been able to get past her past and end up with Owen.
