how bad is the nudity?

Is it very graphic?

reply

Nope. Very casual.

Enjoy these words, for one day they'll be gone... All of them.

reply

But does the camera focus on the nipples?

reply

It's brief. And wide angle.

Blink and you'll have missed the nude scene.

Kids see their own nipples every day. What's the difference?

Wow.. What a real moron ^^^. That wasn't even a remotely funny statement !!

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

The nudity is pretty bad, in that it was nearly non-existent. Why have a single momentary, but impossible to miss, bit of nudity in the film? Strange.

reply

It's strange how it's always the woman who has to get naked .....

It's not strange, nor sinister. It's about the sheer beauty of the naked female form (namely, breasts). I would stagger to guess there are less people wanting to see male full-frontal scenes than people who "dont mind" seeing exposed breasts.

Ticket-Sales confirm my suspicions.

That's not a fair comparison, though. Either compare people who "don't mind" seeing male full-frontal scenes with people who "don't mind" seeing female full-frontal scenes, or people wanting to see exposed breasts with people wanting to see exposed male parts, or, well, you know, any of the other combinations that are even between the comparison.

Anyway, if you're right I'd say that does indeed make it not strange, but it might yet be sinister.

Right, but could we arrive at the conclusion that the people boycotting tickets until more male-nudity is invoked is a very small minority?

Sinister only from the puritan perspective of over-sexualized, naughty bits. Otherwise, I see the beauty and life-giving-potential in every breast, and in no way attempt to sexualize their appearance in cinema -- the choice, in the end, is mine to make.

Yes, I think we can agree about that (boycotting people being a small minority).

I was thinking sinister from a feminist/equality perspective. Definitely wouldn't say I'm of the puritan sort in this regard (or, indeed, any other, probably).

Yes, but even from the feminist perspective; [sexualized thoughts] is the red-flag. And it's a red-flag with puritanical roots.

In short: sex positive, non-puritan feminists know the [sexualized thoughts] are coming and work-around-it in their heads so as to not get so bothered by the "yay boobies!" crowd*. So you could reduce it down to [sexualized thoughts] are problematic (puritanical) or they aren't (non-puritan).

(* Important to remember that this "yay boobies!" crowd is NOT limited to men alone.)

Wish there was more people like you in the western world, then breastfeeding babies wouldn't keep getting disallowed in public places!

Nudity is never bad. Unless they're ugly.
