absolutely horrible

Every high rating of this on IMDB is bs. 6.8 with 1k+ votes? Its a 4.5.

Really? I thought it was a little heavy on the jump scares, but for this type of movie I thought it was great. There were some decent effects and some good tension. I'd probably give it a 7. I am more of a the less you see the better type person, so the end was almost a little too much, but I liked the run time, thought the acting was good, and I totally thought it was more than a 4.5

They must have got this out in a hurry. Using Zoom during lockdown is something we hadn't heard of until March of this year. Still I suppose everybody separate on their computer screen can be assembled fairly easy. That sounds depressing but perhaps I need to give this one a try when it becomes available where I am.

Unfriended: Dark Web was much better than this.

Just watched it too. I think it was quite good. And I wasn't bored at all, story goes straight to the point. No dragging out stuff. But too much jump scares indeed. I think the runtime is also what made it good for this type of movie.

reply

Yeah, I'll just agree with everyone else here who thinks it was a pretty decent film. "Absolutely horrible" is a bit over the top, no? I'd reserve that description for movies that are, well, absolutely horrible.

I guess you haven't seen Little Nicky.

reply

Absolutely brilliant.

reply

Definitely not a 6.8. But it wasn’t bad. 5.5 or so

Glad I'm not the only one who thought so. I love supernatural horror, but I loathed this. Every participant appears somewhere on the scale between annoying and insufferable. It's under an hour long and there's still 20 minutes wasted on drawn-out set-up before things actually get started. We get the usual stereotypes of those looking forward to the seance, those who are nervous, those who think it's a lark, and the usual 'What was that?????? Oh, it's nothing' fake-outs. It has the same shouting over each other/loud crashes offscreen/camera jumps that 'found footage' movies are crammed with. Plenty of 'Shut up! Shut the f*** up!', 'What the f*** was that?' and 'Seriously, what the ****?' edgy dialogue. And of course the staple Blair Witch Project barely audible dialogue, whispered through choking tears. I've liked some films that used this 'online' format, but this is dreadful. The last horror movie I remember being this overhyped was Paranormal Activity. This is basically Paranormal Activity by Zoom. 4/10
