The gunfighting was sloppy and they made horrible decisions

Especially the last fight. Billy, and presumably the other guy, are seasoned pistol fighters. Why are they wasting their ammunition blasting away at each other while staggering through the woods.

Billy could have easily won the fight by simply stopping, perhaps taking a knee, resting his arm or pistol against a tree, and had a good accurate shot at the pursuing bandit. He'd know this.

I get that actual accurate pistol shooting is not very 'dramatic' but this could have been handled better.

Also, When you know your guest is being pursued by dangerous gunmen, why would you sit there at night with all the lamps on and the windows uncovered?
