Much Violence?

Can anyone tell me how graphic/disturbing the violence is please? I found the scene from The Last King of Scotland where he(Amin)had his dead wifes dismembered body sewn back together so gross it spoiled the film for me in many ways. So heads up please many thanks.

There are some very violent scenes within the film and there is torture shown on a television set. If you are sensitive about stuff like that, perhaps it's best to avoid this film. Having said that, it would be a shame because Cooper's performance in both roles is outstandingly good.

reply

Many thanks for your reply

I can cope with violent scenes when they are part of the story and necessary its just the gratuitous and unecessarily gory or sick things I hate.

Never likely to watch Saw in other words.

So thanks for the feedback I think I will see it as Cooper looks like he gives a great performance.

If I managed to sit through The Collector (friends choice) without throwing up in my handbag think I can stand it lol cheers Ambrosia-I.

reply

No, I don't think the violence was gratuitous and it didn't linger; it was integral to the plot to show Uday's insanity. Hope you enjoy the film.

reply

A character gets gutted in the film and you can see his intestines spill out for a few seconds.

reply

I was going to mention that moment too.

It made everyone in the (sold out) theater groan in disgusted fury.

I laughed, but only 'cos I was so shocked and didn't know how else to react. It's not normal that a stabbing scene should contain such graphically spilled insides/outsides.

reply

"Much Violence?"

Almost none. Take the kids. They'll love it!

reply

Yeah, the spilling intestines scene was the only part that seemed remotely gratuitous as it lasted a little longer than it does for someone not into gore.

**Spoilers**
There were torture scenes....On a television, they are showing videos of a guy tied by his hands behind his back, suspended in the air while they beat the *beep* out of his bare back...and then some other guy tied to some kind of wire mattress or something getting shocked. The main character gets tied down and beaten in one scene as well.

its pretty violent. i just watched it. a very good movie tho

reply

that was a woman dude, the person tied to the mattress

Innit

reply

The violence isn't that bad, in some movies they over do it, excluding that one scene where he guys that guy (which only lasts a couple of seconds) its fine

reply

not at all. the atrocities of the real uday make this movie appear like a tom & jerry cartoon.

..::.. jah dread ..::..

reply

The wedding scene was disturbing. Not really violent... its just that you see the aftermath of his actions.... then the consequence.
