The book has stuff in it that will give you nightmares, including the torture of little kids. As ugly as this movie is gonna be, it's going to protect viewers from a lot.
I hope more people buy the book as a result anyway.

Brain meltingly horrific would also be a term for it. Unbelievable stuff, the depts of depravity are remarkable.
As you say: no film has had something that horrendus in it, real life is somehow more screwed up than fiction when it comes to people like this.
I read an interview with Dominic Cooper saying how they had to tone down alot of stuff for the film and as an actor he was stymied on how to get into the head of Uday because he hated him.
They really do tone it down alot, still horrific, but they don't go into the depths of depravity.
Is it a worthwhile book to read? It sounds interesting.

You can't possibly make that claim, at BEST, at VERY BEST, the most you could say is that it's Latif's (unverified, unchecked and uncorroborated) account of his life.
You should really read this article by Ed Caesar... it raises some "doubts" to say the very least....
