Season 6
Do you guys think S6 faded a bit at the start cuz there was not enough Andy?
shareNo, not at all. Season 6 faded because there was too much negativity. The unique thing about Parks and Rec was that it was a very positive show. People did not like the first season because it was more negative than the shows beginning with season 2.
Where one show would get a couple together then have them split because of an obviously contrived reason for the sole purpose of stringing the struggle of the relationship along.
Parks and Rec on the other hand will get a couple together and basically keep them together.
The start of Season 6 of Parks and Rec had Leslie being attacked in almost every episode due to the Re-Call election and the aftermath of it. The show did not have a real foil until Jeremy Jamm, before him the problems that were dealt with were the general problems of being a small department for a small city.
Very well put. I could not believe that the recall thing lasted several episodes and that she was actually recalled, especially after a full season of her campaign.
Also, characters like Martia Langley (sp?) and the religious couple (with the gay husband) infuriated me, and they never got any sort of comeuppance. Those are the times I disliked this show the most, because as you said it was so upbeat most of the time, but there were some nasty moments with no "retribution" so to speak.
Thankfully the finale was like..the happiest of endings.
Actually, midway through S6 now...it's just bad. Very bad, lazy writing.
shareYeah, the show went off the rails in Season 5 when they got to the campaign. It just fell into the same pit that every long running show does. The writers run out of good ideas and start rehashing used material or resorting to tired cliches. The characters stop being real characters and become personality tropes. I'm of the opinion that very few shows should go past three seasons and no show should go past five and this show and "The Office" are prime examples of why it should be that way, moreso "The Office" because, holy crap did that show get bad.
