ever notice that the citizens they show are not fat?

It's this running joke in the show that Pawnee is full of obese people, but almost all the people they show as citizens seem to have normal weight. I get why they didn't want to hire a bunch of overweight extras to go with the gag, but still it creates kind of an odd disconnect, ya know?

This has been discussed before and I agree. Chalk it up to lazy casting, lol.

Theory:

All the fat citizens are at home on their couch in front of the TV

Get up and go to a town meeting? No way. Paunch Burger time!

But wasn’t the guy in the first season quite fat?!

He was Ann and Andy’s neighbor, and had a feud with Andy.

Donna?
Gerry?
Anne's neighbor in the first season?

Well, it's TV, they have to cast people that others would find appealing to look at. Ever notice how they were also on average a lot better-looking, better-groomed, and better-dressed that people at any given real-life office?
