How did Rob Lowe end up on this show?

He went from West Wing to Brothers and Sisters. On Brothers and Sisters he was again a political candidate, but then the show decided they didn't want to do anymore episodes on political topics. So he was left with little to nothing to do and started thinking about leaving. NBC wanted to put him on a show and were thinking about him for Thirty Rock, where he would be Alec Baldwin's brother or rival or something. But they were worried about this other show, Parks & Recreation, that was faltering in the ratings. Would he be willing to join that show instead to try to help it out? He met with the showrunners and they hit it off, so they filmed the last two episodes of season 2 and the first four of season 3, which they then held back to show later while Amy Poehler was having a baby.

Don't know, but he was a great addition to the show
