Good but needlessly goofy

Enjoyed the show, but a lot of it was way goofier than it ought to have been. It goes far past the satirical black humor of the games and into near-sitcom/cartoony levels of goofiness at times, which take away from the overall impact and seriousness of the show's premise and setting.

The only plotline that followed the same kind of dark humor of the games was the Ghoul's, and the only episode that seemed to rise to the kind of tone the games reached was the episode where Lucy goes into the supermarket. Everything else, particularly the stuff with the Brotherhood, was near parody levels of silliness, like something out of a Wayans brothers/Naked Gun type film. Very bizarre creative choice.

Fortunately it works for the most part, or rather, it remains entertaining, though frustrating at times, but it's a very delicate balance that could just as easily have slipped into terrible.
