This movie is as racist as hell. Every single Arab cliche is thrown in there. The fact that such a poorly researched, Orientalism-fraught movie would be made in 2010 is quite disturbing.

The problem people have is that you're not supposed to point these things out. You're supposed to just accept that its a "different culture." And because its a "different culture" we are not allowed to make fun of it for being ass backwards. Its totally okay that women are looked down upon as second class citizens, and that in reality these women would have probably suffered a terrible fate. And I'm more than certain that someone will try to "correct" me, all I ask is, do you deny it?

Take Samantha's freakout in the street. She had just gotten out of prison for having sex but the man didn't suffer any consequences. How assbackwards is that? It's like men there can't handle women's sexuality. Then she basically gets accosted by that guy that rips her bag so everything falls out. Does anyone help her? did the guy apologize? No he just stood there while men circled Samantha and condemned her for being sexual.
