As a mild feminist and super well endowed chest wise myself, despite this, I thought the oblivious nanny's braless conduct was SO gross and inappropriate. The getting her tits wet from the shower nozzle, would make want to beat some ass.

I wear a bra 24/7... and the nanny could still go braless but wear dark colored tops with a little thicker material. I doubt it wouldn't fly if a male nanny wearing white spandex or boxer briefs then his shlong getting soaking wet and see through in public as well as in front of the parents and their children!

as a self proclaimed feminist, you have no right to judge and put down another woman due to the clothing she wants to wear.

There is no need for you to jealously look down on all women who don't wear bras. French scientists did a research study and actually found out that wearing a bra weakens the chest muscles and leads to much more sagging at later ages.

I don't think you know very much about feminism.

Um, an employer has every right to expect their nanny to wear a bra in their home. The way her breasts/nipples were blatantly distracting was silly. She can go bra-less when she's not working. What makes you think OP is "jealous" at all?

Um, no. Obviously her job doesn't require a strict office dress code. In fact, during the summer, playing with children outdoors, her attire was perfectly appropriate. As a woman with a large chest AND a feminist, bras are uncomfortable. The fact that other people were sexualizing her breasts is not her problem. The fact that you're blaming her for what she chooses not to wear is the "gross" part.

No one is saying that there should be a strict office dress code. but a bra is a necessity. Having her nipples on display like that isn't professional.

How is a bra a necessity? Women got along just fine for thousands of years without this particular piece of clothing.

If a male babysitter took the kids to the pool and didn't cover his nipples that wouldn't be considered unprofessional. She's playing with kids. It's hot and bras are constricting. Nipples are neither professional or unprofessional. Her job is to play with kids and they don't care about her nipples. The only people who care are the adults that seem to think it's okay to sexualize them.

Yes he job is to play with kids but that is not the only people she is around. She is also around grown ups.

And bras are a necessity. She is playing with the kids, running around, being splashed with water. Her breasts being so much on display (whether it is when she is running around or when she is getting splashed) is really unprofessional. She got splashed with water and what happened? her breasts were on show. Is that her plan? To show her breasts like that? If not, then do something about it. Get a bra. If it is the plan then I wonder why that is. Why is she showing her breasts like that?

Again, you're shaming a woman's breasts as though they're sexual objects. It's 2015- catch up with the rest of the modern world. Bras are not a necessity; never have been, and never will be. Wearing one is a choice. If it's not a choice, then the ONLY way it would be acceptable is if men were forced to wear them as well.

She got splashed with water because she was playing with kids. If she didn't have large breasts, it wouldn't be an issue. If she were a man, getting splashed with water, whether in a shirt, or without, wouldn't be an issue.

Wearing a bra is NOT a measure of being professional. Acting professional is a behavior within the context of a job. She was a excellent at doing her job. It's only an issue because of Charlotte. She was insecure in herself because she's spent most or all her life devoted to vanity and frivolity. That's unfortunate, but not the nanny's fault. Whenever Charlotte gazed at the nanny, the camera lingered congruently through the "male gaze". Charlotte is complicit within this patriarchal structure because she has benefitted a great deal from it her entire life.

You probably wouldn't have even noticed if it were a normal day-to-day interaction. You only did because that's what the director wanted you to.

And her being a nanny means that she is being active with them. Running, being splashed with water. Her being in danger of showing her breasts in those instances would mean that she should make sure that her breasts aren't on show. If she wanted to show her breasts at a club, that would be ok with me. But in a work setting? No. Not in a million years.

Again, you didn't address the double standard. A male nanny doesn't have to wear bra to work. And if he were playing outside with kids, you probably wouldn't think it was unprofessional for him to be shirtless.

No, a woman breastfeeding is not sexualised, but a woman braless covered in water showing her breasts is. Wet T-shirt competitions? And I really don't know how you can claim to have a big bust and find bras constrictive. Clearly, your bust isn't that big at all. I have a hug bust (no I'm not overweight, just naturally well endowed) and there is no way I could not wear a bra. I would feel so uncomfortable on on-show. I also find it extremely hard to believe that bras make your boobs sag, have you seen topless women in tribes and how saggy they are? Even at such a young age? I'm sorry, but someone who wears a bra generally doesn't have boobs that saggy. And also the chest muscle argument, I am an ex-athlete, my boobs enlarged as I trained and gained more muscle. My chest is perky considering the size, so if you are a gym goer, it contributes to having perkier boobs.

I would also like to point out that having a large chest can wreak havoc on your back, especially if you have a small waist. Wearing a bra is paramount to alleviate back pain.

Ok, so you don't seem to get the subtleties of CONTEXT. A nanny playing with a child who happens to splash her with water is not trying to sexually excite anyone.

But I'm glad you got this opportunity on an anonymous internet forum to talk about how you have such a hot bod.

Wearing bras is a personal choice. I happen to find them uncomfortable. Many other women do as well. I'm glad you have a different experience and choose to wear bras, but don't judge those of us who choose not to or say that our only objective is to excite men.

Feminism is not the issue. Child protection is. Both Rose and Lily were past breast feeding age, but many years below the age of 16. By law, the exposure of the genitals and/or female nipples for a sexual purpose to anyone under 16 years of age represents indecent exposure even if the child is not the target of the sexual intent - witnessing is already child abuse. But this movie has so many problems that one more hardly makes a difference.

You have issues honey. Seeing a woman's breasts will in no way traumatize a child. In fact if you ever take your child to a public pool they will be quite familiar with breasts. We have no indecent exposure laws in the UK, if public nudity is offending people they can claim disturbance of the peace. But over here we do not teach children that their natural form is 'dirty'.

Everyone is aware that this movie is a work of fiction, and that braless Nanny
doesn't really exist, aren't we?

Nanny is fictional, therefore had no choice over her clothing.

What should be considered wrong are filmmakers who think it's ok to use such a character in their movie for salacious and tasteless jokes.

Amen! As a woman with boobs, I guess I have a say amongst all these feminists that seem to have lost the thread. It is common sense that a nanny while on duty wear appropriate clothing. This would suggest a top that, while comfortable is not sheer, or prone to becoming see-through while enjoying hijinks/bathing your wards.

Is it really that difficult to understand having certain standards when you are working as compared to when you are out and about on your own time? It has nothing to do with sexualizing, it has to do with professionalism.

The character was introduced wholly to support Charlotte's feelings of inadequacy. Totally unlikely any real nanny would dress/act in such a manner so blithely and blatantly.

It was so gross how they kept bouncing around. But I understand they had to put it in to appeal to the male viewers.
