Shooting a meteor with a stinger missle?
OK. If this show hadn't proved its mentality yet, it sure did with that one!

A meteor is typically made of nickel and iron so it's unlikely, particularly at the speed of desent.
sharePrecisely my point. Not only is it moving WAY too fast to hit with such a device (usually meteors come down anywhere between mach 25 to 50 or more whereas a stinger peaks around mach 1.5, with a limited range), it wouldn't be likely to blow up a solid chunk of metal ore, anyway, even if you hit it. Not to mention what would happen to the shrapnel.
It's about as realistic as shooting down an ICBM with a trebuchet.
