The movie (mini-series, whatever) was one Cliché after another and stereotyping galore, in fact if you added up the all the Clichés and stereotyping they weighed more then the meteor!
The cast list was good and that is why I watched it. However, Christopher Lloyd gets killed after 10 minutes in a stupid way! Do American really drive around with empty fuel tanks? Was it 3 or 4 times this happened in the movie?
I give it 1/10

sharei'm watching it in french right now and it is actually very awful, i spent the first half of this show shaking my head at the nonsense, and berating the screenwriter , for his blatant lack of minimum knowledge on how meteor works and it shows in scientist dialogue and just about everything else
yet here i am watching it , out of boredom,so i'll list a couple of crappy stuff in this film that i can remember so far, these are not spoilers, its my civic duty to give u a clue how craptastic it is!!!
jason alexander character is supposedly the top scientist , yet he can't calcutate the meteor trajectory by himself? he seemed the whole time to be clueless without help of the scientist & assistant help( who by the way in french specifies she's an astro-physicist to the rednecks selling phone call for 50$ pff)one and their computer are like from the stone age!
its like the writer had enough story to last an hour at most and figured out all kind of outlandish reasons to prolonge the suspense, so the assistant has to drive up to bunker with the cop by carrr? really ? wouldnt a military chopper be quicker, then becoz they see a few meteor falling they hide under a bridge crossway then the cop is such a bad driver he can't evade the truck coming at them, they tumble down a ravine and he dies yeahh right!!! ha!
the doctor she worked with died so stupidly , it was so random, i couldnt believe they were driving out to middle of nowhere to get data and they didnt check if the tank was full, poor girl keeps getting into ridiculous situation that stops her from relaying crucial information...
oh look she finally found some granny house to call ,warn them about 2nd meteor just in time for a mini big one to hit military bunker lol and jason alexander dies a heroic death pushing communication girl out of the way!
then there is the ridiculous story about that family in the hospital hit by a meteor, they're nothing though compare to the cop ,his daughter and the criminal
what i dont understand is how they got so many recognizable names attached to this project
then they keep using same shot of meteor rocks and the big one passing next to the moon,and that most of the little one are all heading to the USA
so yeah the fate of the world rests on one girl astro physicist student coz all the more eminent scientifical minds in the whole world are on vacation on mars and werent notified to get their arses back asap...well for her sake i hope she saves the world and doesnt forget to ask to be exampt of paying taxes ever!!!
i saw "2012" a few days ago again , although i lmao the first time i saw it, on second viewing compared to this its good, if u don't mind the over the top special effects, and impropable mad skills john cusack and wife's new hubby had!!
i sure wish i could fast forward , but no can do, i'm only watching as i'm kinda wondering if they'll all die!
I've seen a lot of disaster made-for-TV movies. This movie would be about average. The thing that annoyed me the most was the dialogue, followed by how slow the meteor was going as it approached Earth. The special effects, for a TV movie, weren't bad though. And the violence irked me a little because I don't like violence but violence is inevitable in a natural disaster.
shareThis is worse than the typical low-budget disaster movie. Even when compared to a lot of the Syfy Original Movies. What was the point of the cop and the murderous criminal? The violence of that sub-plot was excessive, especially for a TV movie. (Was this a TV movie?) What is going on in the hospital? Not much happened.
At least in some other TV disaster movies, there are a few characters worth following, and some entertaining sequences. I can deal with poor special effects and some bad acting. But this is just plain boring (except for the rampaging criminal, and that was more disturbing than anything else).
