Millions of Sherlock Holmes fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming "Holmes and Watson" movie. A few days ago an early 'teaser' appeared in the form of a movie poster. However, movie distributor Columbia Pictures is now sending DMCA notices to scrub any and all copies from the web, including dozens of tweets. But what exactly is the problem?

The movie sucks?

So did anybody ever figure out exactly why Columbia went to all this trouble to get *their own poster* taken off of the internet? There was speculation that they were trying to get rid of the poster because it had the word "Holmies" on it, and it came to light that this word was used for admirers of the Aurora shooter James Holmes.

In any case, it has been pointed out that this is not what the DMCA is for.

And Google and IMDB (and moviechat.org, incidentally) still display that version of the poster!

Oh, really?

reply

Right? I’d much rather have a sequel to “Game of Shadows”.

I agree.

It's a piracy news site, not a movie reviews. I'd say it's just a comedy, will wait for the reviews.
