Why doesn't Batman just wear armor?

He suited up to fight Superman and pretty much everyone they face in the JL movie is stronger than him, so why don't they just have him wear that suit or something similar most of the time; so that he can actually be a factor? Make him like their Iron Man or something.

reply

Because the bat heavy armor was designed specifically to fight Superman?

I imagine with how heavy it is he won't be able to use it for long, not to mention the lack of mobility. This is why the kryptonite was needed. He needed to bait Superman into a close-quarter fight and have him drop his guard before using the Kryptonite. The armor is more for his protection than for attacking, he needed to stay up until he used the kryptonite.

I can't imagine how he would be able to use that armor on more permanent base. Batman is after all a super ninja that use modern gadget.

reply

An armor used to fight Superman can't fight characters weaker than Superman? The armor obviously gave him strength in addition to durability. He couldn't pick up and whip Superman around like that just with kryptonite.

reply

It's not sustainable for long fights, though. Although he could probably one-hit-kill a parademon, I don't see how could have the stamina to fight multiple enemies.

Maybe, if there is only Steppenwolf, he could come to the fight wearing that armor.

reply

Why not? Tons of heroes and villains throughout the history of comics have worn armor. Iron Man, War Machine, Stargirl's dad, Dr. Doom, and many more.

reply

Because he's not Ironman?

I'm just saying. I can only deduce that the reason he didn't wear it because he can't wear it for long.

If you're saying that Batman is actually capable of making something like the ironman suit, then that would ruin the Batman itself. Because if he can make it like the Ironman suit, then by any means necessary he should have worn it all the time. And of course, we would end up with an Ironman knock-off, not Batman anymore.

reply

He's also not very useful in this movie.

Your argument is he can use gadgets, but not armor. Not the strongest argument. Plus there's a precedent of him using various tools, including armor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NWIudHjnNI. He even used that Metron chair thingy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Mtfa7c-ZGA&t=79s.

reply

Other than the fact that he starts the Justice League? Provide the accommodations, transports, base, satellites they used to track the box?

I'm going to point out my previous statement that said that he didn't use it because of a stamina issue. And also because it will not be "normal" Batman.

Comic versions of any heroes can do anything because the writers have nothing else to write, no new ideas. But at its core, Batman is a highly trained martial artist that used technology to assist him, not define him.

And why does it matter what comic batman has done? We are talking about why DCEU Batman doesn't wear that armor all the time. It's too heavy.

reply

You: Batman doesn't wear the armor because it's too heavy and he's not Iron Man.

Me: He's actually worn armor multiple times in comics, video games, etc.

You: That doesn't matter.

LOL, stop it. If we're gonna disagree, at least come up with a valid argument. I showed you literal examples using the same character and your response is, "Well that doesn't count."

reply

And I said we're talking about the movie Batman, and not comic batman. The reason I don't want to do that is because I don't know anything about that. I know what I know.

The movie is different from the comic. Is it really hard for you to accept?

reply

So why were not all the armies in the world made up of only heavy armored knights?

Why do some of them rather wear scale armor instead of plate. Or leather armor?

Armor is basically used according to the scope of the fight.

Example: the heavy armor doesn't allow movement, batman is known for his fighting abilities, not for being a wall. The heavy armor probably will hinder his ability to use gadgets (and his mobility). The heavy armor IS bigger and bulkier, ALL his vehicles would need to be modified to accommodate both styles of armor. The big armor drains stamina a lot faster while NOT being as useful against other enemies beside Supe, the regular armor will save him against regular multiple enemies like parademons.

That armor is useful ONLY in an 1vs1 fight and ONLY with enemies as strong as Supe. To wear it against SW ... sure, but getting to SW would have drained all his stamina carrying that heavy armor around while fighting hundreds of parademons ... contrasting to MCU IronMan, etc: his armor is NOT powered. Not even the heavy one.

You mean like this?

"Armor is basically used according to the scope of the fight."

You mean like when fighting super powered beings?

"contrasting to MCU IronMan, etc: his armor is NOT powered. Not even the heavy one."

It is powered, you are wrong. Batman cannot lift Superman - who weighs like 235lbs - off the ground by kicking him? https://youtu.be/KYhJZu_dcVE?t=208 Or pick him up with relative ease: https://youtu.be/PIY84HcSNZU?t=63 and https://youtu.be/PIY84HcSNZU?t=125. Humans can't do this. Oh, and you actually see sparks from his armor when Superman cracks it. It's powered: https://youtu.be/PIY84HcSNZU?t=16

reply

Look at your picture ... how many of those cops are behind the shield? Why aren't ALL the cops wearing shields if those are so useful?

As I said: one on one, yes, not one on one plus hordes of parademons.

No, it's not powered, look closely at the armor in the same video. It's easy to see that it's just a heavy, strong shell but not powered. Powered armor has underlying gearing to ... help it move. You can see his arms under the armor, not some steel gears.

The sparks can be anything, his helmet might have some electronic enhancements and such. Or just static electricity.

reply

Because it costs too much.

Bro, a human cannot pick up a 235lb human being and whip him around like that. If a guy kicks another guy, he's not lifting off the ground like that first clip. He's not whipping around another human being on a "lasso" like the 3rd clip. And you're literally ignoring the fact we see his armor shorting out. STOP. IT.

reply

I didn't ignore it, i addressed it.

In movies they can lift how much they want to lift. And we are talking about batman.

"In Batman #655, Bruce is shown to be bench pressing over 1000 pounds during one of his regular workouts. In Batman Odyssey #2, Bruce mentions that his maximum leg press is 2500 pounds."

"Bruce regularly shows he can focus that raw strength to perform some frightening displays of power every night. Batman has lifted giant beams weighing around 800 to 1000 pounds (or more) without any extra help. He’s also lifted giants like Solomon Grundy (who must weigh well over 500 pounds) with a single arm."

So maybe you should stop it ;)

reply

There are LITERALLY SPARKS coming out of his armor. Human beings cannot do this, no matter how strong: https://youtu.be/H8iu2MFz16c?t=181. It's clearly powered, asshole.

THIS: https://themillennialwatch.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/batman-31.jpg is not possible.

reply

I already said: the helmet might have electronic enhancements, or static electricity buildup from the hits.

And still he IS doing it. And he is NOT wearing the anti-supe armor in that comic. So although it's not possible for regular humans it is canon that Batman is strong enough for that.

Are you sure you know what your posts are about???

reply

He doesn’t need to be exactly like Iron Man.

Batman: Arkham Knight and Injustice 2 both showed that he can wear power armor for extended periods without sacrificing his stamina and motif.

Perhaps a better comparison would be Black Panther, who’s also primarily stealthy but can still keep up with powerhouse heroes when he needs to, his suit is pretty versatile without being too Iron Man-y.

reply

he does, moron

reply

You really shut me down. Airtight argument you got there.

reply

You can't move in armor.

reply

He moved here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7SiuQxhAjg. Won the fight too.

reply

Barely.

reply

There really is no practical in universe reason to justify why Batman doesn't always wear more substantial armor, such as the armor he wore to fight Superman. Why also doesn't he use non lethal high tech stun guns and the like, which he can most certainly afford instead of exerting so much energy jumping around punching & kicking everyone? It simply boils down to the fact that the traditional, iconic depiction of batman is fighting crime with his ninja skills & gadgets so that's how it continues to be depicted even if it isn't the most practical or efficient way he could be doing things.

reply

I wouldn't even care if it were done through vehicles, which the movies do, but destroy every time he uses one. Shit, I'd settle for more gadgets.

But he fought Superman for fuck's sake. SUPERMAN. And he can't be in the final battle because he's too weak? That's retarded.

reply

Why doesn't Iron Man wear the hulk buster suit all the time?

reply

Overkill. It would tend to hurt the street level thugs too easily. Also, even if he was still able to patrol the streets jumping from rooftop to rooftop (which didn't seem likely given the limited speed and mobility his armor caused) the increased weight would cause structural issues on buildings and certainly limit his ability to grapple around the city. Also, powered armor has finite energy, and if he happened to run through his power source while fighting, he'd be in real trouble. Additionally, stealth is a very important part of how batman fights crime, and the heavy armor would obviously hamper that.

reply

I mean when he goes on Justice League type missions, not around Gotham.
