7 episodes in and it went woke

So much for "classic trek". Anyways it was woke from the beginning when they chose such an unattractive and talentless actress to play Uhura (who actually has hair and looks normal and kinda pretty in her IMDB photo) and then there is the doctor who is really ugly and hard to look at, has this thick accent that is annoying and has such a monotone expression, that's what you get with diversity hires but now we're 7 episodes in and they have this trans character who is obvious and not passing at all. I knew from the moment I heard him speak that he was trans. It can sometimes be hard to tell when it comes to looks but the voice is so much harder to hide. I wanted to look this person up to confirm so I don't look like an ass and sure enough, he is trans. I wonder how many trans people have heard the expression "Uncanny Valley" because it is a major reason who so many people hate looking at and listening to trans people. None of you are real women and you never will be. Quit trying to turn womanhood an insane caricature. Transgenderism is basically the gender equivalent of blackface but with mental illness included.

reply

Not really. It was pretty obvious that character was a trans but was not in a "look at me I'm a trans and I have rights and I'm special and bla bla" like it was in STD. I actually liked the character and I guess it will return at some point.

reply

So if it ain't white, it ain't right?

Basically

A Toxic, Triggered troll!

reply

Right??? Toxic for sure.

reply

So anyone that doesn't like SJW/Woke crap is "Toxic"?

It is actually wokeness that is toxic and like a cancer it is infecting and destroying Western culture just like everything else it touches.

reply

Yep. A toxic racist.

reply

Muh racism

SNW was woke from the start (race swamping Lt. Kyle & Captain Robert April, Pike's bridge crew all being women & butch lesbian types, "only real life blind people should play blind characters", Jan. 6 riots caused World War III, etc.) It's just that most people were in denial about its wokeness until it SNW DIRECTLY copied STD in episode 7, and patted themselves on the back for having a real-life "Non-binary" person play a "Non-binary" character during "Pride Month".

It's interesting the "SNW isn't woke like STD" crowd won't admit they were wrong after CLEARLY being proven wrong. 90% of the people singing SNW's praises from episode 1 are just AWOL from social media now and won't discuss the show anymore, and the remaining 10% are on boards like this trying to come up with insanely goofy convulted excuses to continue the "SNW ain't woke" narrative ("well you see, the episode wasn't ABOUT the character being non-binary, nevermind the fact they had a whole scene giving a speech about how society oppresses them, blah blah blah...")

The remainder are probably embarrassed to admit they got duped. I understand desperately wanting GOOD Star Trek after seeing example after example of Star Trek In Name Only, but it was a pipe dream to think the SAME people who made STD had now "learned their lesson" and somehow not only gave us "fun" Star Trek faithful to the spirit of TOS, but also somehow magically learned how to write GOOD compelling sci-fi stories.

On the flip-side, the "zomg Superman & Lois is GOING TO go woke any minute now" crowd also has egg on their faces for the OPPOSITE reason, as we are now two seasons in, and the show NEVER "went woke". In fact, it's officially divorced itself from the Arrowverse now!

reply

Certain sci fi fans are just suckers who never learn. These easy marks are doomed to fall for the bait and switch over and over again.

reply

Wait, which character was trans? TELL ME! I can't believe it went undetected under my transdar. Must've been a good trap and I am all for that. If it can fool me, props to them. If it's obvious then that's a no for me.

reply

Interesting point about "equivalent of blackface".

Its actually kinda is. "Womanface" is what it is. When that white woman Rachel Dolezal decided that she wants to be black, she was feeling inside as black and started wearing tan and curly hair then woketards called her racist, laughed at her and cancelled. And she was sincere in her adoration and respect for blacks. She truly wanted to be one. But nope.

Then same people praise every man that dressed up as woman and demand everyone to threat him as one. And attack everyone who doesnt.

Just shows how woketards dont follow their own rules and its all performative. They dont really care about anything. Now women, not trans. not blacks. Only for their own power.

reply

I wonder if its safe for Rachel to come back out as black? As of now any person can be any gender or species they want.

reply

When was any Star Trek not woke?

Wait, don't tell me--I'm sure you have your own personal definition of the term that's basically white, male, cis, and most at home while hanging around under bridges.

reply

Cis? Oh you mean "real". Funny how you have a term that distinguishes men in womanface and real men.

reply

I actually didn't spot it straight-away but there was definitely something slightly off about her. So then I googled and... oh. That's why.

I was more bemused by the ludicrous notion that Spock is non-binary (in terms of being neither Vulcan nor human). I guess that was their thinking in casting her.

In a weird way, making her the villain seemed like a slightly ironic twist. I.e People who hide their true identities might be hiding other things too.
