I stopped watching Star Trek Discovery after the 1st season. The Strange New Worlds pilot suggests something has happened to Captain Pike. What was it?

I don't remember the specific plot (because Discovery is forgettable woke garbage) but something causes him to get a glimpse into his future. Specifically his accident that disfigured him.

No idea. Apparently he took some space shrooms and saw his fate. I'm more concerned with Spock's weird haircut.
