They hate having to make this show

When they introduced Pike into Discovery, I feel they were pushed into it (by the higher powers, those above Kurtzman and co.) because of how poorly received the first season had been. It was intended to get the original fans back by giving them something, anything, that tied back to the trek they knew. That's how off track Discovery went with all their changes in both tone and lore. Imagine their (Kurtzman and co.) embarrassment when Pike completely upstaged their absurdly unlikable characters and overall grimness.

Now imagine how embarrassed they are that those same higher powers probably pushed the creation of Strange New Worlds. It showed very clearly how profoundly they had misunderstood trek and how obsessed they were with just using it as a vehicle for their own non-trek ideas.

My theory is that they were forced to make this show, and that they resent it deeply. I worry that they will find ways to shoehorn their nonsense into it and create the same kind of depressing drama and illogical character conflicts. They might try to shift this back into their failed Discovery mold or simply try to sabotage the show to get back at the "toxic fans" that didn't just gobble down their Discovery and Picard dreck. I'm not sure, but I sense it. These tigers don't change their stripes.

Anyone that made Discovery and Picard cannot be trusted to keep this right. Anything that is right so far was likely mandated from higher above.

Spock and Pike were the only bright spots in Discovery. I think the studio recognized that. With all the hype that came with Discovery and Picard i wonder if it bothers them that this show upstaged both of them.

That's my whole point. Imagine how upset they are that these guys came in and everyone liked them an order of magnitude more than any of their miserable charisma-voids. It really highlighted how horrid of a show and cast of characters they had created and how not-trek their show was. (Except Saru, I'd watch a Captain Saru spin off in a heartbeat.)
