Impossible to make a 'realistic' prequel in 2022. Set BEFORE Kirk's original, so-

No miniskirts?
Loads of women in primary roles?
More ''diversity'' everywhere?

Yeah, that's the most obvious thing.

People may complain about Rick Berman, but he at least seemed to care about continuing Roddenberry's vision.
