How are those squatters helping the situation?
If the evicted people diss the banks and just stay in their homes after the bank has attempted to evict them, the banks will eventually just stop making loans in that area - or at least start putting hefty restrictions on such loans, because they'll red-line the area as being too high-risk. So essentially it's everybody else who suffers.
