Contact with wife
Great movie. Just a quick question. In the starting we see Gu-nam not having any contact with his wife for a long time, which in turn drives the plot in motion. Any reasons as to why she didn't contact him?

shareBut a woman is shown getting off a train at the end which we can assume is his wife. So, she didn't run off with someone else.
shareyes but if i am not wrong there are 2 huge details which I think the director made on purpose;
- except her we don't see anyone else on the platform or in the train , not one single person (and the city where it takes place in China as you see in the movie is a big city very populated, not countryside)
- there are absolutely no sign or board on the platform signaling the station / city name
this leads me to believe that he was dreaming and the wife did not come back , especially the first detail of her being totally alone on the platform.
