Killing for the sake of killing (Spoilers)

Like many of the people on this board i also felt this movie could have been a lot better. One thing that really got under my skin, and i have seen this in a lot of movies and tv shows lately, is introducing a character just to kill him or her off. Now dont get me wrong i like blood and gore like any normal horror movie fan but this is something i cant get with. This movie especially irrtates me because if you were just going to kill all the main characters why not do it over the course of film instead of rushing the last 10 minutes to kill the only people in the movie that had any resembles of character story, if you do it that way at least i would feel some type emotion seeing as i spent an hour and half geeting to know them, but instead they introduce some lady 3 quarters of the way through just to kill her 3 minutes later, needless to say no matter how bloody or digusting her death was i did not care one bit.

I know what you mean. It's common in horror these days for them to introduce characters halfway thru whose only purpose is to increase the body count. Keeping the viewer interested with suspense or interesting characters isn't something most horror movies are capable of doing these days.
