Mike Matei showed up. i don't know if it's his acting, his voice, his attitude or his vids, but i can't stand the guy. i honestly think he's annoying as hell. James doesnt need him to make his site work @ all. it doesn't matter if someone is a good friend of urs, if they suck at acting, then kick them out.

Mike often does a lot of work "behind the scenes", and I think he always have. He seriously deserves some screentime, like him or not. He's not just a friend of James'. He has helped a lot.

And that's where he should stay, behind the scenes. Everytime he's in an AVGN video, I wish James would realize, that he's just not a good actor. He's like a friend of his who wants to be in his videos.
Don't get me wrong, I love AVGN. The biggest flaw in the series is when he starts making the episodes more something else than a game review. That's what I want to see, a review of a nostalgic game, not the Nerd beating up Bugs Bunny or some of his friends being really annoying in his videos.
I agree that Mike isn't very good, but the OP's saying he brings nothing to the table, which is absolutely false. He's not just James' friend. He's essentially a co-worker, and he has been for long.
But again, I agree with you. He should stay behind the scenes most of the time. However, I do think he deserves to be seen every now and then. Which does happen in other Cinemassacre videos.

Mike is cool, there's nothing wrong with him. He's like Rob Walker of Nostalgia Critic, works behind the scenes and appears in some episodes (and commentaries). How come nobody hates on Rob but there's such a HUGE dislike for Mike?? 8(
sharewow, I completely forgot i started this post over a year ago. now i'm back to clean up a few of the things i said. mainly, I meant that i don't enjoy mike when he's acting, and that it what turns me away from him, and IMO, his reviews really are pretty awful. BUT, when he isn't acting and just being himself in a video, he seems like a cool guy (the video where he shows all his DVD's and the video where james made all the michelangelo inspired pizza's during TMNT series james did a while back are good examples.) well, there's my two cents again. bad and annoying actor (IMO), but i'm sure you're all right about how much he does mean to the site as a whole. and to answer the post above about rob walker, rob doesn't do his own videos without doug (if he has, i haven't seen them). rob is there as a supporting character to the nostalgia critic (RIP)

Personally, I think he works pretty well as the Nerd's foil. He's not quite as funny, and he doesn't curse as frequently or as naturally, but he still has a likable personality and the two function well as friends. He's the Nerd's Second Player.
