Really has gone downhill

I've always been a big fan of James ever sense he started the nerd. He really started a funny web series and it was great. He kept the humor going for quite a long time, however, it just doesn't seem the same anymore. The humor in the series is just not as funny as it used to be. I didn't laugh much at all the past couple years of watching some nerd. I'd say about after the Big Rigs episode is when it went downhill. There were a few after that were okay like the E.T. and Beetlejuice one but then James released the 12 days of *beep* which was not really funny at all. It seems he's running out of ideas and makes fewer episodes a year. I think he might should retire and end the series.

He won't fully retire it because doing Nerd episodes keeps his website and YouTube revenue going. The episodes are never going to be like they once were because when he was under contract to produce an episode every two weeks his writing and performances were more consistent due to the Nerd being his full time primary focus. Creatively it was a positive type of pressure. Even though one might think that having more time to produce an episode should make the episode better it seems it has the opposite effect with James. He worked better with the two week deadline.

makes me wonder if james does the episodes for a living and that's his job and gets paid for all what he made-plus the board james, you know what's *beep* james & mike and cinemassacre videos, or if he was just bored and made the angry video game nerd himself. i think he did when he was under contact and had to make an episode every two weeks.

It started going downhill long before the Big Rigs episode. I noticed the decline starting in 2010. I consider the last classic episode to be the Winter Games episode, which aired in December 2009.

once i saw the toxic crusaders episode with lloyd kaufman that's pretty much when i thought the episodes sucked. that was the worst episode ever. there were a few 'ok' ones here and there after but most all of em sucked after toxic crusaders.

His latest episode felt just like a terrible ad to promote Keith Apicary than an actual AVGN episode. AVGN in this episode just kept on breaking everything around him and didn't focus on reviewing anything, yet, the majority on YouTube think this is "great" and "funny." Well, they have their opinion so won't disagree on that.

I still watch his old episodes every now and then as they're fun and interesting.

I've heard people say the nerd has been going downhill ever since 2010, but I disagree. While there was a slight drop in overall quality around that time, for me it didn't truly go downhill until 2015. Last year had only forgettable episodes. There was a lack of effort put into the episodes and it seems like he made them just because he had to and not because he wanted to. Board James was excellent last year, though. 2016 was a little better, but it ended with this worst episode yet.

I still enjoy his gaming episodes and his movie reviews as well.

Great channel! Still worth watching.
