The final confrontation between Clough and Revie

Clough, having just been sacked by Leeds, stubbornly remains in denial of his true feelings and ambitions. He finally divulges the origin of his resentment for Revie, only to have Revie insist he has no recollection of snubbing him years earlier.

Michael Sheen plays Clough perfectly, as you witness years of piling bitterness come crashing down, leaving him questioning if his tenacious journey had been worth it.

I'm an American and not even a huge football fan, but Clough's realization was heartbreaking and, in my opinion, evoked Citizen Kane emotions.

Did such a double-interview really take place ? And if so, was this version close to what they actually said ?

"The elderly, they seem friendly enough, but can you really trust them ?"

The real interview was very different. Clough ran rings around Revie, who was made to look somewhat foolish. They got into arguing over all manner of trivia.
Revie should have had more sense than to get involved, especially as he was no longer in charge at Leeds and Clough was more nimbler-minded in front of the TV camera.

I disagree Chris - I've watched 'Goodbye Mr Clough' many times, and in no way did Clough 'run rings around Revie'. It is Revie who has Clough on the ropes at the end when he is quizzing Brian about why he failed to properly introduce himself to the staff at Leeds & Austin Mitchell dived in to save an increasingly agitated Clough. i'd say the only time Revie erred was when he wouldn't accept that it was possible for Clough to 'win it (the league title) better' immediately. Of course you could win it better as Arsenal did the other year without losing!
I feel that Revie knew far more about Clough's daft 'chuck your medals in the bin' behaviour at Elland Road than he would care to admit out of the fear that Clough's buddies in the media would accuse him of orchestrating the bad feeling.
Also, throughout the show it is Revie who is the more passionate about Leeds while Clough seems to treat the whole thing as a huge joke.

If Peter Taylor had come to Leeds with Clough it would have been a different and happier story.

***The only programme I'm likely to get on is the ------- news!***
