Incongruous song by Deep Purple

I found it a bit curious that "Flight of the Rat" by Deep Purple was used on the soundtrack during a match from 1968. The song wasn't released until 1970. As a fan of the band, this odd song choice struck me immediately. Not strictly a goof, perhaps, but I thought I'd mention it. And it's not like that time period was short on good tunes they could have used instead.

I'm willing to forgive incongruity for any film that uses a song from Deep Purple In Rock.

I have to agree with Rollo131 - though 'Flight of the Rat' was probably used purposely to allude to Revie's future move from the England job to a lucrative post in the UAR, I was glad they used Purple rather than kitschy pop like 'chirpy chirpy cheep cheep'.

***The only programme I'm likely to get on is the ------- news!***
