that was the problem with the 2nd film - actually it was one of many problems! - they would have been in their 20s in the timeline of things, and seeing Jay still acting like that was weird and almost depressing. Especially when they all seemed to have shown some maturity and character development in the 1st film.
It's also the problem with things like SATC and Bridget Jones - the whole point of them was that the characters were in their 20s/early 30s and were still discovering themselves, hadn't settled down yet etc, like a lot of people that age who have big city careers, city centre apartments etc. It was relatable.
Seeing them in their late 40s and 50s still behaving like grad students - just no.
