... until I caught a late, late night re-run. What night was this show on tv? It seems watchable enough. Was it popular? The main guy looks like he’s been in other stuff. The main gal is attractive but I have never seen her in anything else. There’s a mother character who I’ve seen before in tv or movies but can’t recall where.

shareNew episodes were shown Monday nights on ABC at 10 P.M. EST. I used to watch "Castle" when it originally aired.
I would say it did pretty good in the ratings. It has an 8.2/10 on IMDb. People seemed to generally like it mostly because Nathan and Stana's characters were lovable.
I never even heard of Stana Katic until I caught this show around 2010. She had me glued to the TV set. She is (or was) a fantastic actress. Same with Nathan Fillion and Susan Sullivan. It had the perfect ensemble and you can feel the tension between Kate Beckett and Richard Castle. That's how good the actors were before "Castle" bit the dust.
Start from the beginning and stop at the end of the seventh season. Trust me, the eighth season will want to make you punch a hole in the wall.
You might have recognized the mother (actress Susan Sullivan) from Dharma and Greg. Her character is definitely one of the best parts of Castle!
