Awesome roller coaster of a movie. I don't understand the hate.

I agree completely. The story line does kind of steal from other Hollywood movies, but I wouldn't call it unoriginal at all. The characters managed to be interesting, without having to give much backstory. The action scenes were top notch, and not over the top like other movies (I'm talking to you, Michael Bay)

There are barely any clear frames in the movie thanks to the shaky cam genius at the helm.

This is trash and almost everyone recognizes it for what it is ... TRASH.

I had come on the boards for this movie before seeing it. Considering the bad score and the number of threads dissing the movie, I was expecting a pretty bad flick to say the least.

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty epic movie with good acting (as good as it needs to be in this kind of movie), fun action and good sequel potential.

What happened to judging movies on what they aspire to be rather than as an absolute ? This movie aims to entertain and thrill its audience for a couple hours and, on that basis, it did pretty damn well.

It's no oscar winner but it doesn't pretend to be. It's a fun ride and I enjoyed it.

I love this film . Ok, it is typical 'America saves the world' but it it is exciting, emotional and fairly well acted. I have watched it a few times, and would watch again

...i agree, it wasn't too bad. A mixture of "Independence Day" and "Starship Troopers". Then again, I wasn't expecting much either.
