The girlfriend

I remember there being a shot where Tommy's girlfriend had apparently told his mother something, and she says "aren't you going to say something?" while his mother has her back turned to her. I think I missed something because I have no idea what it could have been, anyone else care to fill me in?

-Hows that book?
-eh, its not that great... the covers pretty good though

Well also, she doesn't have to answer to her anyway...she wasn't Tommy's wife or anything like that...

Rebecca isn't exactly his girlfriend either! mother/not mother - raising him, but raising the man who was her boyfriend - very strange! I am fascinated with this movie - Eva Green is amazing. She was really great in "Cracks," which was the first time I'd seen her - also interesting subject matter.

Matt Smith is fine - he embodies the earthy sort of nature-boy this guy is. He's kind of ugly-beautiful - I'd like to see him do something Shakespearean.

I happened to see an episode of Dr. Drew about a week ago, about children who were re-united with an opposite-sex parent they had never known or grown up with - a very strange dynamic - the phase where the little girl gets attached to her father about age 4 or 5, and wants to "marry" him, is delayed, and when they meet as adults the mind translates that delayed emotional experience into a sexual attraction, and incestuous affairs can result if people aren't aware of this phenomenon! And then a week later I see this movie! How did the Greeks figure this stuff out - and we are surprised by it now - we are so unaware as a society of what is really going on below the subconscious in our lives, it rules us. We are too shamed to talk about these things, and deny that they are going on ALL the time. Many many families have dealt with incest - well, not exactly dealt with it, usually denied it completely, to the detriment of the child it happens to! They just want the kid to shut up and not disrupt the "family" unit!

Ssssshh! You'll wake up the monkey!
