Feeling quite traumatized after watching this...

I didn't feel traumatized, but I can definitely see why a person would. (For instance, I love the new show Top of the Lake, but I had an anxiety attack and got physically I'll after watching episode one. It just hit my issues in a strong way. That said, I'm still going to watch it because it is well done and I think art/film is allowed to push our buttons.)
This film made me very uncomfortable throughout, but it was amazing. It was quiet and subtle as heck, but a lot of the scenes were very powerful. One doesn't need Hollywood explosions to make an impact, in my opinion. My heart was breaking throughout the story, but for me, that's not always a bad thing.
I think part of the point was to unsettle and disturb us. To make us ask ourselves questions about humanity, love, sanity, motivations, cloning, etc.
I see that people on here either get it or they don't. I personally like art to challenge me, even if it makes me uncomfortable or react in a negative way. I feel that's the point of artistic expression - to make us feel and think.
I loved the quality of the acting. Two of my favorites in the lead.
This writer/director is new to me, but after seeing this, I am going to make a point to watch his other films. Very interesting presentation of his story, and I want to see more of how his mind works.
