-SPOILER- Do yourself a favor and skip this movie

There's a lot of complaints about the scenes with the children ... which wasn't the problem for me with this movie ... there's enough plausible deniability to get by that.

The real disturbing bit is twofold,
1 - the writing works too hard to get the viewer to the point of sexual tension between mom and clone-boy, leaving believability long behind. There's nothing believable or natural about it, the scene with the fishing net is contrived and unbelievable (for him from a human nature behavioral pov),
2 - he has sex with his mother near the end of the movie, and that's pretty much it.

So the logical conclusion is not that the writers wanted to deal with incest from a clinical or socially relevant pov, but simply for the sake of presenting it either for shock and or to appeal to whoever would find this interesting outside of those parameters.

Even if a clone that close was possible, which it isn't for a host of reasons ... there's no reason to believe he would have some attraction to her due to the identical genetics of the original.

The yuck factor is strong with this one.

When I was looking through the comments section (titles only) when trying to decide whether to watch this film, I saw your thread. It made me a bit sceptical of seeing it.

I am SO glad I did NOT follow your advice. I absolutely loved this film. I thought it was sublime and didn't find it yucky at all.

For viewers wondering whether they should give it a shot or not, if you liked 'Never Let Me Go' you might like this as well. If you're pondering seeing it, in the end, only you can make up your mind about something. Not someone else.

Everybody is different.

She was not the mother, she was a surrogate. So it was not incest at all.
Secondly only we have problems with consentual incest. It was quite permissible in the antiquity( am a history major) and still might in the future. The story is obviously futuristic.
The acting I think in the end was spot on. It depicted all that confusions both the leads felt throughout the years.
Clones are supposed to be exact duplicates unlike even identical twins. That is canon. We dont know for sure as it hasnt happened yet. We know nothing about their feelings and emotions.
lastly the film raises some questions about science and tech itself. Urges us to use caution. It raises questions about ethics morality and of course psychology and urges us to be careful about our choices. No matter what they are. It is sad some viewers were unable see past breast feeding and sex scenes.
Do watch never let me go. Better still read the book. It is astounding. U
