Let's get this straight

Gary Webb did not commit suicide. He was gunned in his slumber by government hired assassins just because he spoke the truth. He even said that he was getting death threats and that people were breaking into his house trying to find his paper work. This is an America where uncovering the truth means death or imprisonment. Why should we be scared of the government if we are the ones running it?? Well that's just an illusion, we do not run a damn thing. It's time for us to stand up and all tell the truth. They can't kill us all, there is too many of us. We need to take back the country before it is too late.

Oddly enough - I have spent the last few days looking up the whole Ukraine Debacle. The thing that irks me the most is how one sided news reporting has become. I mean If you look at the reporting over this major issue in all Western mainstream media, you would be an idiot to even think there was another side to the issue....
Yet there exists a wealth of reporting including videos that show a completely different take on the story... Do a search on You Tube on Donbass and you will see some truly shocking and TRAGIC footage of what's going on there. And very fracking scary... ESPECIALLY what you DON'T see in the normal news channels.
The problem is that you have to sift through a multitude of crack sites to find these versions... NOTHING in mainstream media!!

And then I watched this film.

The first thing that came to mind was, "What would we be reading if Gary Webb was still around?"

Whatever happened to journalistic integrity?
There was a time that I KNEW I could read through publications like The Washington Post or the New York Times or watch CNN or the BBC to get the truth about what was going on in the world...

NOT ANYMORE.

I for one would not be surprised in the least if Gary's death was anything BUT a suicide.

Wish we had more people of his calibre and integrity to help us stem the tide.

Just watched the film, and though even at the end of the movie it's phrased as to leave some doubt ("His death was ruled a suicide"), further reading strongly suggests it most likely was suicide. Not that I would put anything past the CIA or any other government agency -- many other assassinations are documented facts -- but why bother to kill him several years after the story was out? They had already achieved what they wanted, which was to marginalize him and the story, ruining his career in the process. So, while they may not have pulled the trigger, they pushed him to his tragic conclusion.

What do you hear?

i don't believe it was a suicide, but here's the deal on spooks using guns:

they used to have another arrow in their quiver that went like this--
1. knock you out
2. take your to a motel bathroom with a tub running
3. plop your soon-to-be-corpse into the rising water
4. drop a plugged, running blow dryer in with you

et voila! accidental death.

but when they use guns, it means they are sending a message-- "We can get to you, make it look like an obvious murder, have it ruled a suicide, and get away scot-free."

this kind of double-tap 'suicide' of controversial/inconvenient citizens is not unheard of for a reason. we are supposed to dummy up and be afraid.

so that's their own little message. they are no better than the mafia or ancient peoples who used crucifixion or impaling as shows of force. and shows of force are desperate measures of terrified despots in fear of losing their power.

so what do we know now? for one thing, if Brian Williams were really doing his job, he'd be dead instead of getting a 6-month suspension. 

Yeah, most will get the message--threat--below the threshold of consciousness, so they don't have to worry about a mass uprising or anything. Most Americans are so programmed, indoctrinated, to believe the US is really the shining city upon the hill, the guardian of freedom, democracy, and virtue, that they'll never accept that the price of our privileged lifestyle, especially that of the top one-percent, is lots of blood.

You got to be a complete idiot to trust this government or these 3 letter agencies that engage in some much illegal activity.ATFcaught smuggling weapons to drug cartels. DEA caught smuggling drugs. CIA was caught even spying on congress to hide the torture programs. The biggest threat to freedom is right at home not some terrorist around the world.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

reply

Yes. That was the first thing that crossed my mind. It was OBVIOUSLY an assassination by some non official CIA Agent because he uncovered the truth. by now everyone knows what intelligence agencies will do to win wars and cover up their actions. But there's a problem with what's being said. The CIA keeps classified information away from POTUS. So if we elect the POTUS, then we are still not in position to stop the CIA from doing anything. They are the supreme power of the world.

reply

To all the people that keep asking "why they didn't kill him back when the article was released" the answer is if they did it back then it would be obvious.

reply

lol, ok, so they stealthily killed him by...SHOOTING HIM TWICE IN THE HEAD. And they must have also talked the banks into increasing his mortgage so that he could no longer pay it. They also forced him to sell his house 1 week before. Conspiracy theorists are so dumb it is sad. Yes, the gov/CIA was involved with the contra/drug smuggling ...a little...but thats how the world works, and it wasn't on some grand scheme where ALL the drugs were coming in from them. Watch the movie "Blow" and you will see another huge source of drugs during the same time period and they were NOT working for the "CIA". Also there are still drugs in LA TODAY as there were BEFORE in the 60's and 70's probably even more drug use back then...this was a minor thing and a trumped up story by a guy who wanted to be "famous" and the other reporters all saw it for exactly what it was. They all knew about the story in the 80's they just didn't have any facts so they couldn't publish much. So this smhuck from the whatever whatever paper invents some stuff and makes bold claims, of which he could not prove. Bad move.

The story of the film is not that the CIA did anything (that should be obvious) its what happened to him afterwards and how he did not know what was about to happen to the perception of his work. People have no idea what goes on, but thinking your government is "out to get you" and that they aren't doing things to protect you, is just pure stupidity.

You're an idiot.

This is exactly right, the theory that he was murdered is a pretty silly one. The real life Gary Webb discovered a big, important story (the CIA knew of and encouraged the Contras to sell cocaine in the US), but then went too far with it, with repeated implications of inventing crack, racial biases, targeting specific neighborhoods and ethnic groups, and so forth.

He was unduly savaged in the media, and only won back some of his credibility and respect after his death. It is a very sad story, but ultimately his suicide made perfect sense.

reply

@johncg25 OMG! you are so dumb it is beyond sad. You even admit in your post that the CIA was involved in drug smuggling "a little". Whether it is a little or a lot doesn't make a difference. That's like a woman saying that she is "a little" pregnant.

The CIA started bringing in drugs during the sixties when it was feared that blacks might rise up and try to take over the government. They didn't know any better back then and were very fearful of blacks in the south. you obviously weren't alive back then but you might remember in history class when you weren't sleeping, that there were a lot of riots that broke out in many cities in the southern states. these riots were televised and showed the cities in flames. the police had to wear riot gear.

now if you can use your brain for just a minute, but don't hurt yourself here, the government wanted a way to control the population of inner city blacks. what would be an effective method of controlling the population? perhaps if the population is addicted to narcotics they won't be so inclined to rise up anymore perhaps? a population of people hooked on a highly addictive substance would only be interested in being high and then when it wears off, finding more of the substance. you now have in a sense, mind control and control of the population.

This wouldn't be the first time the government conspired to do something not beneficial for the US population. The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male, also known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study or Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment was an infamous clinical study conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service studying the natural progression of untreated syphilis in rural African-American men in Alabama under the guise of receiving free health care from the United States government. Just do a google search and you will find all the info about the experiment.

so i would say that it is not that you are dumb but just naive. you like to think that the government has our best interest at heart when they don't. all of us are just numbers. most likely the CIA did kill the reporter Webb. The fact that it was two shots doesn't mean anything except that they botched it and the CIA has botched many things. It makes sense that they waited many years later because that way suspicion is thrown off of them. it worked too because here you are defending the CIA saying that they couldn't be involved in his death.

Well now its much easier, just accuse an American of being a terrorist and he can be kidnapped deported to Cuba and never seen again.

Home of the free? not by far.

You hate Congress but every election you re-elect YOUR "guy" and wonder why things never change!

reply

Yes, just like Danny Casolaro sliced himself to death in a hotel room. Isn't it amazing that every time a reporter digs up something big on the government they become horribly depressed and kill themselves. There was also the guy in Arkansas who "committed suicide" by chopping his own head off with a chainsaw. Right...
