Crossed my mind--colonization!

Before you respond, ya, extraterrestrials were attempting to colonize Earth--I suddenly started to connect the idea of English colonialism. India, Egypt, U.S? Of course, the line of humans being "imperfect" and the ending of a post-apocalyptic world sort of sounds unappealing, but I also liked the fact that the movie tried to explain why individual cultures might have chosen to revolt against English/Colonial rule. The line, "we know what's best for y'all" never worked out within the past 250 years.

I'd say most of us are under more control now than we've ever been, transparent control is fought against but invisible control thrives.

Well, War of the Worlds was written by the English writer HG Wells... he set out to show what it would be like for England to be given a taste of its own medicine through an invasion/colonisation which drives out the indigenous people.
