The Bracelet Part
I didn't really get the bracelet part when Gary showed Andy a medical bracelet with his name... I understood he went to rehab, but he also had his wrists covered up, did he tried to kill himself?

shareYes he did. It's arguable if he's in rehab it's more like a suicide ward. It's not AA at the beginning as some have stated (AA meetings take a diff format)

I believe he tried to commit suicide.

Yes, he was a suicide case.
That was the whole thrust of his character really - he idolised that one night as the greatest time he ever had. Which sounds fun, until you realise that what he's really saying is that his life peaked when he was 17 and it's been downhill since then. He's lived an empty, meaningless life and desperately clung on to everything he can from the past because he has nothing to replace it with. He's wearing the same clothes, driving the same car, listening to the same music - not even the same artists or even the same songs, but the exact same tape!
He tries to come across as carefree and lively, but he's really a horribly sad and lonely person who's spent his life desperately clinging to the one happy time he remembers, and telling himself that if only he could have followed that night through to the end, everything would have turned out better for him.
He really is a fundamentally sad character. It's actually painful to watch.
