What was the moral of this story?

I've watched it twice and I don't quite get the point.

Don't wake me 'cuz I'm dreamin' of angels on the moon...

It's a movie (and a bad one at that) not a fairy tale

The movie uses a fairytale to make the point known at the end. And besides, all movies have messages. I didn't get this one, and because of that, I do think this movie kind of sucked, and was way too inaccurate- almost assuming it's audience was dumb. They probably assumed people were just watching for Jessica Alba :/

Unfortunately, there wasn't one. It was a terribly mixed up movie; so many themes and ideas that went...nowhere.

The moral of the story is that Alba's career has effectively hit rock bottom.

The movie was based on a book?
Was the book coherent? I mean, were characters defined and was there a story?
Was the book at least slightly interesting, informative, or anything? For example, was the author attempting to explain mental illnesses from his personal view?
If so, then the movie script and direction was a failure.
But if the book was also incoherent, then we can forgive the movie for just following along. (But I want my money back).
