Did they never find any trace of them? It just seems
every stupid to go into that jungle. Primitive peoples
are very unpredictable, and like modern people they often
try to solve problems with violence ... they just do not
have the firepower, but they sure often have the will to kill.
A lot of precedent of primitive people slaughtering, torturing
or eating others.
To answer your question--kind of an old one at this point--no, they never found their remains. They just disappeared into thin air. A lot of fanciful legends have popped up, but there is little doubt they were murdered by natives.
shareThe Kalapalos were the last tribe to have seen the three (in the movie there are only two, but in real life it was father, son & a longtime friend of the latter). The Amazonians warned them that, if they continued on, a fierce tribe would kill them. They were able to monitor their campfires for five days, but not after that.
So the three were either killed by violent tribespeople because they didn't have gifts to give (or whatever) or it's also possible that they simply died of natural causes in the jungle since the youngest two of the team were somewhat lame & ill when they left the Kalapalos, plus no proof has surfaced that they were murdered.

In any case, it's a shame to come to an end like that, and it also seems terrifying. This why you'd never find me out there, not to mention it just seems miserable having to battle the mosquitos and other assorted insects, wildlife and climate.
I do appreciate their adventurous spirit, though. I went ahead and read the book the film is based on, which I recommend, and it's really pretty sad that they didn't make it back.
It seems like a case of overconfidence mixed with obsession to find evidence of the ancient jungle civilization. Fawcett had embarked on seven previous expeditions to Amazonia (whereas the movie only shows three total) and so he was definitely prepared & skilled at surviving in the challenging deep jungle. When the Kalapalos warned Percy & Co. not to go further, he didn't take heed and it cost them their lives.
