It's based off of Grann's book about a lost civilization that the Amazon jungle has consumed. Pitt's character is the famous explorer that advanced the theory of the civilization through his explorations. It is from a really interesting book about what was considered to be the last of the old time explorers=Col. Percy Fawcett, who, if you read about him will find a very complex, interesting and dynamic man. His dissapearance in the jungles of the Amazon in 1925, has sparked countless searches for what became of him-he was no novice to the region, having mapped many areas of the previously uncharted Amazonia, by the outside world. Not sure how Pitt will handle the role-physically he sort of fits the bill-except he is not British-but Fawcett, was a Brit molded of the Victorian-Edwardian era, so it will be interesting.
