Brad Pitt?

God, Gray is a genius, but Pitt in the leading hole? He's so obvious! I'd prefer Joaquim Phoenix again, but he's now a "rapper".

More importantly, does Brad master the british accent?
Or does the character has no such accent?

reply

Pitt did a marvelous Ulster accent in a film with Harrison Ford. Problem for me is, Fawcett was physically "hard as nails"; he was almost 40 when he started tramping around the Amazon. When he disappeared he was almost 60; does Pitt look like a guy like that? #
The co star really has me thinking about that goofy ANACONDA - ugh!

Gray prefers Brad Pitt...

pitt in the leading role is perfect

I'm assuming he either wasn't available or wasn't interested, but how about Daniel Day-Lewis? He's in his early 50's so he could surely look anywhere from 40 to 60, and he has played roles requiring him to get used to the wilderness (Last of the Mohicans) and act tough as nails (GONY, TWBB). I haven't read the book, but it seems like it could have worked...

Pitt's fine, but might be a little too pretty to be the near invulnerable Fawcett. I've read the book and Daniel Day Lewis is the perfect choice to be Fawcett IMO. He would be believable trekking through the Amazon and also being the shrude/determined/ruthless/quasi buddhist/survival savvy man that he was. They even look alike. I'm a fan of Pitt but watching him in the Amazon, I don't think I could help thinking about all of the preparations and precautions the filmmakers would have to take to insure he wouldn't get a scratch on him. I know the same would go for DDL, but I'd like to believe that DDl would say *beep* it and jump off a cliff if the film called for it. But at the same time I would't want DDL to be typecast as the gruff-tough-ruthless man role.

If you're a fan of Pitt's why haven't you ever seen Snatch? Because if you've seen Snatch you wouldn't have said that. Sure, makeup and editing worked their magic, but you think Pitt didn't get knocked around hard in Snatch during the boxing scenes? In Fight Club too.

I can not believe that there are people who still consider Brad Pitt to be a vulnerable pretty boy, which he hasn't been since Kalifornia. It boggles my mind. Obviously those people don't see enough Brad Pitt movies.

I think Pitt will be fine, but as stated in the other posts, I agree that Daniel Day Lewis is the perfect match for Fawcett. His looks and character both fit Fawcett perfectly, but either way, it should be interesting. The book can't be matched no matter what. Great read.

Pits production company bought the rights, sooooo....thats probably why he is in the lead, as he is also in charge.

Wrong.

This will be like in Interview With The Vampire. A disgrace cast.

Donald Sutherland.
Young Fawcett being his son Kieffer.

Or

Dr. House, which could be terrific, also.

Hell, since they might spam multiple periods in the character's life get the three of them!

But the actual choices...
