Is this really going to be completed in time to be released this year?

It's had only three months of post-production---one would think such an ambitious movie would need nigh on a year, if not more than that (i.e. Silence and other movies that started post last year, some of which have been postponed to 2017). Still, I'm hoping for the best. Maybe James Gray and his editing/sound/etc. teams are really quick workers.

Three months of post-production? They finished the main shoot of this roughly in September or October of last year, if I recall correctly. They shot in Ireland last summer (June/July-ish?), then moved to the Amazon immediately after.

It has been nearly a year.

It'll premiere at NYFF this year, but I'd not be surprised if the actual release is in 2017, though.

The IMDb article says it was updated May 27, 2016 but I might not know exactly what it means by that. I gathered it meant that was when post-production started.

No definitely not. James Gray was doing final audio mixes (which I understand is one of the last steps) months ago. The movie wrapped almost a year ago.
