The book was excellent

I really hope they capture the essence of the book, that Fawcett was obsessed beyond reason, that the conditions he and his teams endured in the jungle were horrendous and extremely dangerous. The constant swarms of bugs alone were enough to make a person go mad let alone the rest.

Would highly recommend the book. Can't-put-down reading of a true account.

I agree, David Grann did a nice job introducing this amazing man, but if you want to delve deeper down the rabbit hole check out Exploration Fawcett, it was compiled by Brian Fawcett and basically lays out all of what Percy wrote. There are some fascinating tales within, such as a plant that can "melt" stones, and what may be Percy's encounter with Neanderthals. To completely immerse yourself in the story, which is what i did, was to use Google Earth concurrently while reading the books, and place bookmarks on rivers and areas that he had traversed. Looking at some of the photos of the areas in which he travelled really sinks you into his story. Brazil and many other countries are absolutely fascinating and have some amazing wonders of the world.

I agree. Read it twice.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

I see there's also no reference to the third man in the party, Raleigh Rimmell, Jack Fawcett's best friend. Is he not in the picture? I would be disappointed if he wasn't. When I saw Robert Pattinson being cast I thought he was going to play the third man in the party, but instead he plays one of Fawcett's earlier companions I don't think he appeared a lot in the book.
I loved the book as well. I hope this movie makes it justice.

Excellent book, bought a copy after reading the library's copy. Gripping, terrifying, mind-expanding, informative, finally awe-inspiring, everything a book should be!

But yeah, reading about the pestilential hell that Fawcett and his pals went through has put me off visiting the Amazon rain forest forever. Iceland instead!

Watched it this morning on DVD. In a Special Feature on the disk, the author commented that the movie complemented the book beautifully.
