The Value of Honesty
One of my favorite scenes is the conversation when Billy asks Pete if he would've drafted him in the first round. At first, Pete gives Billy the answer he thinks he wants, but when Billy presses him, Pete shows his honesty.
Billy: Cut the crap, Pete. Would you have taken me in the first round?
Pete: I'd have taken you in the 9th round. No signing bonus. I imagine you would've passed and taken that scholarship.
Billy: Yeah. Pack your bags, Pete. I just bought you from the Cleveland Indians.
Pitt's drawn out "Yeah" is a great piece of acting. Sometimes it stings to hear the truth, but he knows he can trust Pete to be honest.
Food in Films: First, let me say that Brad Pitt is the Laurence Olivier of eating in films. Billy does a lot of eating in this one, but the best has to be eating a Twinkie in nearly one bite before telling Jeremy Giambi he's been traded.
